Minimum Requirements:

We work to select the most competitive applicants. Standards on recruitment and selection comply with Human Rights legislation.  To become a police officer the following minimum criteria must be met. 

Criteria

  • 19+ years of age
  • Physically fit
  • Canadian Citizen or have Permanent Resident status
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Standard First Aid CPR Level C and AED
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Uncorrected vision that is 20/40 with both eyes open, with one eye no worse than 20/100
  • Corrected vision that is 20/20 with both eyes open with one eye no worse than 20/40
  • Normal Colour Vision

You Must Not Have

  • Any criminal convictions and/or pending criminal charges

· Canadian Birth Certificate
· Valid Canadian Citizenship Card
· Valid Canadian Certificate of Native Status Card
· Valid Nexus Card
· Employee Identification Card issued by the Federal, Provincial or Territorial Government (with photo)
· Old Age Security Identification Card
· Valid Firearms Licence
· Municipal or RCMP Police Identification (with photo only)
