FINGERPRINT SERVICES
West Vancouver Police provides digital fingerprinting service for Immigration, Citizenship, Visas, US waivers, Foreign Travel, Security Licensing, Legal Name Change, Privacy Act, Pardon Applications and the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP).
Fingerprint Services are available for West Vancouver Residents only.
We offer electronic fingerprint service, as well as the traditional ink-and-roll method. Applicants must attend in person for this service, and we will submit the fingerprints to the RCMP in Ottawa on your behalf, for them to complete a fingerprint-based Certified Criminal Record Check.
The service timeline for the fingerprint search by RCMP in Ottawa is determined by their policy and volume.
FINGERPRINT FEES
All applicants will be charged a fee for the fingerprinting service. Payment can be made with cash, debit, VISA, and MasterCard. The fees are as follows (applicable taxes incl.):
- Ink Fingerprints (one set) $78.75
- Ink Fingerprints (extra set) $10.50
- Digital Fingerprints $63.00 – $88.00 *depending on the service required.
- Volunteers – $21.00 (some exceptions apply)
*The RCMP in Ottawa charges $25.00 for some services
Depending on your reason for sending the fingerprints to Ottawa, there may be an additional $25 processing fee payable to the RCMP in Ottawa. West Vancouver Police will collect this fee on the RCMP’s behalf.
FINGERPRINTING PROCESS
Fingerprint Services are by appointment only. Please call 604-925-7300 to schedule an appointment. Prior to your appointment, please complete the WVPD Fingerprint Consent Form. Forms can be downloaded via the link or picked up at our front desk. Downloaded forms must be printed and filled out.
On the day of your appointment, please bring all documentation with you (printed) for our technician so the service required is clearly understood. Read your documents carefully prior to attending our office so you know exactly what you require from us.
Identification must be presented in person to submit your fingerprint request. We require two pieces of valid, Canadian Government issued ID, one must have a current photo and prove your current West Vancouver address.
FINGERPRINTING FAQ
Yes, West Vancouver Police provides fingerprinting services for West Vancouver residents only however an appointment is required. First determine if you need electronic or ink fingerprints then call the non-emergency number 604-925-7300 to make an appointment.
A minimum of 2 pieces of valid Canadian Government issued identification is required. The ID must contain the applicant’s name, date of birth, photo, signature and current West Vancouver address.

The cost varies from $21 to $88 depending on what service is required
Usually about 3-4 weeks but in some cases up to 120 days. Most fingerprint results are sent from Ottawa directly to the applicant.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK
The West Vancouver Police can assist you in obtaining a Certified Criminal Record Check (CCRC) by fingerprints. We will take your fingerprints and submit them to the RCMP in Ottawa. They will conduct a search and in most cases mail the results directly back to you. The service timeline for the fingerprint search by the RCMP is determined by their policy and volume and usually takes 3-4 weeks but in some cases can take up to 120 days. The letter you receive in the mail from the RCMP is the Certified Criminal Record Check and comes on RCMP letterhead with an embossed seal.

West Vancouver Police does not offer a name and date of birth “Conviction Only Check / Police Clearance, Criminal Record Check”. If you require a Criminal Record Check for convictions only, this can be obtained through an accredited private company.

I need a certified Criminal Record Check from the RCMP. Can I obtain that from West Vancouver Police?
If you require a Certified Criminal Record Check and you are currently residing in West Vancouver, we may be able to assist you with a Certified Criminal Record Check by fingerprints. Some individuals may require a Certified Criminal Record Check for a Travel Visa, Foreign Study, Work Permit, Foreign Employment/Volunteer opportunities, Canadian Immigration, Permanent Residency or Canadian Citizenship applications. We can assist you in obtaining a Certified Criminal Record Check (CCRC) by fingerprints. We will take your fingerprints electronically and submit them to Ottawa RCMP.
