Collective Agreement Summary

A Collective Agreement (CA) has been reached between the West Vancouver Police Association and the West Vancouver Police Board. The new CA focuses on the health and wellness of staff while providing a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that is highly competitive with other Lower Mainland municipal police agencies.

Parties:

The CA is between the West Vancouver Police Board and the West Vancouver Police Association which represents all sworn police officers at the ranks of Constable, Sergeant and Staff Sergeant.

Term:

The term of the new CA is 5 years spanning from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2024.

Salary Increases:

  • 2020 3%
  • 2021 2.5%
  • 2022 3%
  • 2023 3%*
  • 2024 3%*

*or matched to the settlement reached by the Vancouver Police Union, whichever is highest

Benefit Highlights:

  • Maternity leave (100% top up of wages to 17 weeks) and parental leave (95% top up of wages to 35 weeks)
  • 40 hours of wellness leave
  • Increased health and wellness support through a comprehensive extended health benefits package

 

Other Elements:

  • Recognition of international policing experience
  • Agreement to explore a model of contract policing
  • Agreement to phase out the Corporal rank (without detriment to employees currently holding the Corporal rank)
