in 2018, Sgt Schafer, while still a constable, was reassigned to the VPD lead Project Territory – Task Force Tourniquet. This was a multijurisdictional joint forces operation consisting of police members from partnering agencies across the Lower Mainland. The investigation had a $6 million budget and targeted the Red Scorpions and the Kang Crime Group who were responsible for the most violent events in the region at the time.
The West Vancouver Police received an award from Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for taking the most impaired drivers off the road (per capita) in the Metro Vancouver region in 2022.
