Next Block Watch Crime Alerts/Coordinator’s Update – December 18th, 2025
Break & Enter

Extended hours of darkness, frequently rainy nights. The winter season can be a prime time for residential break-ins. We encourage all residents to remain alert, and to take proactive steps to reduce your risk of becoming a victim.
A resident of the Eyremount-Crestline area, reviewing home CCTV video over the past week, contacted police after making the unsettling discovery of a suspect attempting entry at a rear patio door. No entry was gained. Nothing was stolen. Adding to the discomfort, further review of CCTV video revealed another attempt had been made by a similar suspect, several days earlier. It serves as an important reminder that Burglary suspects can target homes in any area of the district. Ensure you home is secure before any holiday travel. Be alert to any suspicious activity or persons in your neighbourhood.
Call 911 for crimes in progress, and if you see suspicious behaviour, call our non-emergency line at 604-925-7300.
Thefts from Auto
A reminder to please take care to avoid leaving items of value in any unattended vehicle, whether at home or while you are holiday shopping. Thieves only need seconds to smash through a side passenger window to take that carefully selected gift or personal valuable.
Fraud
Fraud reports this week include two familiar scam tactics. A local contractor received an email from a suspect posing as a regular vendor, requesting payments previously made by cheque be changed to e-transfer. After sending the transfer, the victim noted the bank transit number on the transit appeared unusual, phoned the vendor, to discover they had not sent the email.
And a resident reported being contacted a suspect claiming to be with the “Canadian Anti-Fraud Department” and persuaded the victim to move funds between personal accounts. Fortunately, the victim’s financial institution froze the transactions before any funds were lost.
