West Vancouver Police Join “Light Up The Province” Campaign for a Safer Holiday Season

West Vancouver, B.C.This month-long initiative led by BC Highway Patrol kicks off Saturday, December 6th

With holiday parties and festive gatherings ramping up, West Vancouver Police are reminding everyone to plan ahead for a sober way home.

WVPD will join officers across B.C. in “Light Up The Province”, the annual campaign to counter impaired driving. Starting Saturday, December 6th, over 400 officers throughout the province will be out in force to help make our roads safer. Anyone who has been drinking should expect to be tested under Mandatory Alcohol Screening protocols. Officers will also be scanning for drug impairment.

Planning ahead makes all the difference: choose a designated driver, use taxis, transit, and rideshares, or arrange for an overnight stay. Help your friends and family make good decisions, and if you see a driver that you suspect is impaired, call 911.

Make the right choice to drive only when sober. Let’s work together to make this holiday season one we can all enjoy safely.
