At approximately 6:24 a.m. on April 12th, 2026, West Vancouver Police received a report of a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Har El Synagogue on Taylor Way. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported, and no property damage occurred.

While the investigation is ongoing, WVPD would like to assure the community that there are no ongoing safety concerns related to this incident, and that the vehicle fire appears non-suspicious. Available evidence indicates the car caught fire while travelling eastbound on Highway 1, and the driver took the first opportunity to stop the vehicle off the roadway.
