West Vancouver – a 50-year-old man has died after what appears to have been a tragic skiing accident on Cypress Mountain over the weekend.

On Saturday, March 5 shortly after 10:30 am, officers responded to Cypress Mountain after a report of an injured skier. When officers arrived, they assisted with crowd control as BC Ambulance and Cypress Ski Patrol members tended to the injured man.

Unfortunately, the man was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Early indications are that this appears to have been as a result of a tragic accident,” says Cst Kevin Goodmurphy. “Our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends.”

WVPD is supporting the BC Coroners Service with their investigation.

The deceased is a 50-year-old man from Delta BC.
