Multi-Unit Building Advisory
We are urging multi-unit building residents to remain alert after a tactic observed this week by suspect targeting the vehicle door in a parking garage. Residents of a building in the Community Centre area reviewing surveillance video, noted a male attempting to reach through bars of the garage door to place a coin purse over the gate sensor. The apparent goal, to prevent the door from automatically closing after any resident passed through and allowing a suspect to enter after the garage area was clear. In this matter, the suspect appeared to be spooked and left without entering. We urge all multi-unit building residents to ensure your parking garage closes behind you with no unknown or unauthorized persons following you in. If the door fails to automatically close, check to see if it is malfunctioning or has been tampered with.
Sprucefeild Area Residential B&E
Leaving keys and a garage door opener in an unlocked car led to a break-in this past week. A resident heard the garage door opening at 1:30am. Upon checking, no one was found, and nothing had been stolen. House keys & a garage door opener were then discovered missing from an unlocked car in the driveway. The resident has rekeyed all locks and changed the garage door opener code. Please do not leave any items of value in an unlocked vehicle, especially any items that can be used to access your home.
