Fake Fire Sprinkler Inspector Theft
Our Crime Alerts this week include another occurrence of theft, in which a suspect approached a resident of a multi-unit building, claiming to be conducting inspection of fire sprinklers. The suspect was provided access to the resident’s suite and not continually supervised. After the suspect’s departure, the victim noted their purse, ID & bank cards were missing. The building manager subsequently confirmed no approved inspection was scheduled. If you have not received notice of any contractors or inspectors at your multi-unit building and someone unexpectedly seeks access to your suite, we would encourage you to check with your property manager or strata council representatives before letting anyone in. Call police if you see any suspicious persons or activity in your neighbourhood.
B&E(Residential) – Fairmile Area
An unfortunate return from an out of country trip for a family in the Fairmile Drive Area of the British Properties. Residents returned home to find suspects had broken through a ground level window to enter the home. No alarm was activated. Jewelry was stolen. If you are planning a trip away, we encourage you to review your home security before leaving. Ensure you home alarm is functioning and properly set. Consider having a family member or friend checking on the home regularly during your absence and clearing any delivery items left at the home. You may also wish to consider secure offsite storage for any personal items of exceptional value.
