**Please Note – Our Next Block Watch Crime Alerts & Coordinator’s Update Will Be September 4th, 2025**

Residential B&E

Please remain alert in your neighbourhoods.  A residential break-in attempt heads our Crime Alerts for the past week . Suspects entered through the rear of a Chippendale area property. A surveillance camera was torn down and an upper floor patio door was smashed before suspects encountered the resident. Suspects immediately fled. An investigation is ongoing.

The methods in this file are very familiar with suspects betting that security systems will not have intrusion sensors installed on upper floor entry points.  We encourage all residents to regularly review security provisions at your home and consider when intrusion sensors could be helpful on all potentially ground accessible entry points.

Disturbance Related Behaviour

As Summer winds down, and youth begin to return from vacation trips, Noise complaints & Mischief (property damage) reports associated to large youth gatherings can increase across the district.  This can be particularly noticeable over the Labor Day Weekend when the first day of school is imminent.  Please do not hesitate to call West Vancouver Police if you see or become aware of any disturbance or mischief related behaviour of concern.

Block Watch Leads & Co-Leads

The Block Watch Society of BC has officially changed the title of “Block Watch Captain” to “Block Watch Lead”. The name is intended modernize the title to be more inclusive and emphasize the collaborative coordination of Block Watch. Responsibilities of a Block Lead or Co-Lead remain the same. Thank you for your continued volunteer work and support of Block Watch.

Anytime you see activity of concern, please don’t hesitate to call West Vancouver Police. Call 604-925-7300 for non-emergency matters. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency, including events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property or to report a substantive crime in progress.
