Thefts from Auto

We are headed into a season where Thefts from Auto(TFA) can become an increasing concern. Three Thefts from Auto were reported in the District since our last Crime Alerts, along with one attempted Theft. Thieves either smashed passenger side windows or entered unlocked vehicles to complete the offences. In the attempted theft, the offender was interrupted during the offence and fled with all items recovered.
As the holiday shopping season approaches, thieves can be expected to be active, especially in commercial and retail areas. Theft from Auto prevention involves some basic steps to deny offenders an easy opportunity. Whether at home, or in retail parking areas, we encourage you to avoid leaving items of value unattended in your vehicle, especially if the valuables can be easily seen from outside of the vehicle. Even if your vehicle is locked, anything seen by thieves can be stolen in seconds by smashing through side windows.
WVPD in the Community – Remembrance Day

We invite you to join Chief Constable John Lo, current & retired officers of West Vancouver Police next Tuesday, to commemorate Remembrance Day. We will march with veterans & community partners in the annual West Vancouver Remembrance Day Parade to honour veterans and those currently serving the Canadian Armed Forces. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. The parade along Marine Drive starts at 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, November 11th, from 18th Street and proceeds to Memorial Park, for the traditional ceremony at the cenotaph.
Anytime you see activity of concern, please don’t hesitate to call West Vancouver Police. Call 604-925-7300 for non-emergency matters. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency, including events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property or to report a substantive crime in progress.
