West Vancouver – A Break & Enter suspect was arrested after being subdued by a homeowner. Shortly after 3:00am on April 2, 2023, the West Vancouver Police were called to a home in the 300 block of Macbeth Crescent for an interrupted Break & Enter. The homeowners were woken by a noise inside their residence and a male was located inside the kitchen. The intruder was confronted and, after a brief struggle was held on the ground until the Police arrived and arrested the male. There were no injuries to either party. The suspect gained entry by prying a partially open window and cutting through the window screen. Wesley John Spiekermann, of Vancouver, has been charged with one count of Break & Enter to a dwelling house.
“It is unusual for a Break & Enter to occur while a home is occupied and; thankfully no one was hurt during this incident” said Sgt Mark McLean. “This was alarming to the family inside; who had children sleeping down the hall”. “This is a good time to remind people that, with warmer weather approaching, it is important to secure windows and doors at night.”
Mr Spiekermann, who is a repeat offender and well known to the West Vancouver Police, remains in custody as a result of this incident and his next court appearance is on April 19th.
