Good Day Block Watch Captains, Co-Captains & Participants,
A widely forecast snow event for the North Shore & Lower Mainland is upon us. Environment Canada continues to predict snow, at times heavy throughout the day with accumulations of anywhere between 10 & 20 centimetres. Amounts are expected to vary widely by location and elevation. Cypress Mountain is reporting 12 cm so far overnight. As of 7:30 at Police Headquarters, we were stepping through approximately 5 to 7 cm.
The advice from road crews across the Lower Mainland, if you don’t absolutely have to travel, and especially if you don’t have good condition winter tires, it’s a great day to stay off the roads. Ploughs are working, with high traffic routes being prioritized, however, the snow is forecast to continue through the day before potentially turning to rain & freezing rain.
All public & private schools in West Vancouver have announced closures today due to the weather conditions.
We have a full patrol team on duty, with additional officers called out to assist.
Our vehicles are equipped with all wheel drive & winter tires. If you need us, we will travel safely and be there for you.
Our public Front Counter will be open from 9am to 5pm.
Regards,
Jeff Palmer
