West Vancouver Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Search for Missing Kayaker
West Vancouver, B.C. – A man is missing after departing on a kayak from West Vancouver yesterday afternoon.
A 36-year-old man departed from Batchelor Bay on his kayak yesterday, November 19th, at approximately 12:40 p.m., on what was supposed to be a short paddle. He was last seen rounding Whyte Islet, heading North towards Whytecliff Park. He did not return by his anticipated arrival time of 2:30 p.m. and was reported missing shortly after 4 p.m.
The missing man is 36 years old, 5’ 10”, and 170 lbs, and has dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black rain jacket, black track pants, and black flip-flops, and was in a white collapsable kayak. Please see the attached photo, which was taken just before his departure.
The search for the man is ongoing. The West Vancouver Police Department requests the public keep an eye out and report any relevant information immediately to 604-925-7300.
