B&E (Construction Site) – Chippendale Area

Forced entry to theatre room in residence under construction

B&E(Attempt) – Caulfeild Area

  • Pry marks discovered on rear door of residence
  • No entry gained. Nothing stolen

B&E – Ambleside Area

  • Forced entry to multi-unit residential building garage. Suspected theft of mail

B&E – Property Recovered – Westridge Area

  • Traffic stop for vehicle with observed license violation led to arrest of driver for Driving While Prohibited
  • Subsequent investigation following arrest led to recover of property from July break-in at Chippendale Area home

THEFT

Theft (Robbery) – Marine Drive / Taylor Way Area

  • Theft suspect brandished knife while stealing from retail store
  • Police immediately called. Patrol officers located & apprehended suspect in area

Theft – Shoplifting – Summary

  • 34 Reports since last update
  • 32 from Taylor Way / Marine Drive Area. Two reports from Ambleside Business District
  • Two reports involved theft values in excess of $5000

Theft from Auto – Ambleside Area

  • Digital camera, clothes & other personal effects stolen from unlocked vehicle parked on street

  • Sports equipment stolen from unlocked vehicle on residential street

Theft of Bicycle – Taylor Way / Marine Drive Area

  • e-Bike stolen from parkade of multi-unit residential building

Theft – Ambleside Area

  • Camping tent stolen from residential yard

Theft – Horseshoe Bay Area

  • Backpack left unattended on passenger ferry
  • Wallet, money, ID & personal accessories stolen along with backpack

Theft – Ambleside Park Area

  • Cellphone left unattended at sports field area stolen

MISCHIEF

  • Storage box set on fire

  • Front window of retail food outlet smashed

  • Decorative statue outside retail outlet knocked over & damaged

FRAUD

Fraud – Online

  • Resident responded to trailer for sale ad in online marketplace
  • Seller requested a deposit to hold item for resident’s attendance
  • Listed address found to be fake upon attendance

Fraud – Online – Dundarave Area

  • Resident advertised personal computer for sale online.
  • Suspect responded, offered to purchase, then sent cheque for amount exceeding agreed price, asked for resident to return excess funds by way of gift cards
  • Resident correctly recognized a scam attempt was in progress & contacted police

Fraud – (Bank Inspector Scam) – Telephone

  • Resident contacted by suspect claiming to be security staff for their bank
  • Resident asked to withdraw funds & purchase gift cards as part of security testing of tellers
  • Gift card codes given to suspect & funds lost before victim realized a scam was in progress
