- Suspect responded, offered to purchase, then sent cheque for amount exceeding agreed price, asked for resident to return excess funds by way of gift cards
- Resident correctly recognized a scam attempt was in progress & contacted police
Fraud – (Bank Inspector Scam) – Telephone
- Resident contacted by suspect claiming to be security staff for their bank
- Resident asked to withdraw funds & purchase gift cards as part of security testing of tellers
- Gift card codes given to suspect & funds lost before victim realized a scam was in progress
