Fingerprint Services
West Vancouver Police provides digital fingerprinting service for Immigration, Citizenship, Visas, US waivers, foreign travel, Security Licensing, Legal Name Change, Privacy Act, Pardon Applications and the Criminal Records Review Program.
Fingerprint Services are available for current West Vancouver Residents only.
We offer electronic fingerprint service, as well as traditional ink-and-roll method. Applicants must attend in person for this service, and we will submit the fingerprints to the RCMP in Ottawa on your behalf, for them to complete a fingerprint-based Certified Criminal Record Check.
The service timeline for the fingerprint search by RCMP in Ottawa is determined by their policy and volume.
Fingerprinting Process
Fingerprint Services are by appointment only. Please call 604-925-7300 to schedule an appointment.
Prior to your appointment, please complete the WVPD Fingerprint Consent Form. Forms can also be picked up at our front desk.
On the day of your appointment, please bring documentation with you that describes the print service you require. Read your documents carefully prior to attending our office so that you will know what you require from us.
Bring the completed Fingerprint Consent Form with you along with the necessary identification and fees (below).
Identification must be presented in person to submit your fingerprint request. We require two pieces of current, Canadian government-issued identification, one of which must have a current photo and prove your current West Vancouver address.
Acceptable forms of identification are:
- Valid Canadian Driver's Licence
- Valid BC Identification Card (with photo)
- Valid BC Services Card
- Valid Passport
- Valid Canadian Permanent Residency Card
- Current Canadian Student ID Card (for youth applicants ages 12-17)*secondary Gov't issued ID required
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Valid Canadian Citizenship Card
- Valid Canadian Certificate of Native Status Card
- Valid Nexus Card
- Employee Identification Card issued by the Federal, Provincial or Territorial Government (with photo)
- Old Age Security Identification Card
- Valid Firearms Licence
- Municipal or RCMP Police Identification (with photo only)
If your identification does not include your West Vancouver address, you must provide proof of West Vancouver residency (i.e. tenancy agreement, District Tax Notice, Property Assessment, Cell Phone Bill, Hydro Bill).
Fingerprinting Fees
All applicants will be charged a fee for the fingerprinting service. Payment can be made with cash, debit, VISA, and MasterCard. The fees are as follows (applicable taxes incl.):
- Ink Fingerprints (one set) $78.75
- Digital Fingerprints $63.00
Depending on your reason for sending the fingerprints to Ottawa, there may be an additional $25 processing fee payable to the RCMP. West Vancouver Police will collect this fee on the RCMP’s behalf.
Fingerprint FAQ
Yes, West Vancouver Police provides fingerprinting services for West Vancouver residents only however an appointment is required. First determine if electronic or ink fingerprints are required and then call the non-emergency number 604-925-7300 to make an appointment.
A minimum of 2 pieces of Canadian Government issued identification is required. The ID must contain the applicant’s name, date of birth, photo, signature and current West Vancouver address (see above for more information regarding acceptable forms of ID).
The cost varies from $21 to $80 depending on what service is required (refer to pricing above)
Usually about 2 weeks but in some cases up to 120 days. Some fingerprint results are sent from Ottawa directly to the applicant or requesting agency while others are sent from Ottawa back to West Vancouver Police, it depends on what the fingerprints are for.
