West Vancouver – A 38-year-old Richmond man is facing charges of possession of stolen property after WVPD officers answered an online ad that was advertising a snowboard for sale.
On December 7, 2020 officers were made aware of the advertisement by the snowboards rightful owner, who had been hoping to eventually see it show up for sale online.
According to the owner, the board is extremely rare and easily identifiable.
It had originally been reported as stolen to WVPD in February 2019, after it was taken from a vehicle on Cypress Mountain.
On December 16, 2020, WVPD plain-clothes officers set up a meeting with the seller in Richmond. When the stolen snowboard was recognized through its unique design, the seller was arrested.
“We were very happy to return this property to its rightful owner,” says Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy. “It clearly held sentimental value.”
The suspect was later released with a court date in March 2021.
