West Vancouver – Officers from the West Vancouver Police Department donated blood in support of the Canadian Blood Services “Sirens for Life” campaign.
On May 22, WVPD officers attended North Lonsdale United Church in North Vancouver, and alongside other North Shore first responders from North Vancouver RCMP, North Vancouver City and District Fire & Rescue, and BC Ambulance Service, donated blood to support those in need.
The national campaign sees Canadian Blood Services partner with emergency services personnel who donate blood or blood products and help promote the need for donors.
“Having seen how essential donated blood can be first hand over my thirty-two-year career, I am happy to support Canadian Blood Services and this worthy cause,” says Deputy Chief Constable Shane Barber, WVPD.
According to Canadian Blood Services, one in two Canadians will either need blood or know someone who will at some point in their lives. To find out how you can help, visit www.blood.ca or call 1-888-236-6283.
