Marchers made their way Thursday, December 6th, 2018 from the Chief Joe Mathias Centre on Xwemelch'stn-Capilano to the Squamish Nation Welcome Figure at Sway Wi-Ambleside Park in West Vancouver.

With the support of officers from West Vancouver PoliceNorth Vancouver RCMPIFNU - Integrated First Nations Unit and staff of Hollyburn Family ServicesSquamish Nation and the Violence Against Women In Relationships (VAWIR) committee, participants marched to remember 14 victims of the Ecole Polytechnic shooting in 1989, Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls, and all victims of violence.

Marchers then cast roses into the ocean at Ambleside to remember victims.

The march is intended to send an important message to victims of domestic or other violence, that you are not alone and help is available. Many victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse offences suffer silently, afraid to come forward for help.

If you need police call 9-1-1 for emergencies. For non-emergency police response in West Vancouver, call 604-925-7300, for non-emergency calls in North Vancouver dial 604-985-1311. To contact the North Shore Domestic Violence Unit, call 604-925-7300.
