West Vancouver – A party promoter has been issued a $230 fine and a 20 year-old man suffered significant injuries, after police were called to a house party in the British Properties with over 200 guests.

On August 28th, 2020 at 10:15 pm, officers were called to a disturbance in the 1500 blk of Errigal Pl.

Once on scene, officers determined there were well over 200 people in attendance at a large house party with an average attendee age of 18-21 yrs.

Officers noted that none of the people in attendance were adhering to any of the Covid-related provincial health orders. Officers on scene were kept busy managing the crowd as fights began breaking out.

A man did sustain significant head and facial injuries after being assaulted, and he was later transported to hospital by ambulance. The injuries are not life-threatening.

While the crowd was dispersed, it was determined that the property itself was a rental property, but the organizer/renter was not located, as it believed they fled once police arrived.

One party promoter was identified and was subsequently issues a $230 fine at scene.

It is believed that most of the attendees were from outside of West Vancouver.

“This was an extremely irresponsible group who posed a significant risk to each other, their own communities and the residents of West Vancouver,” says Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy. “This type of gross negligence will not be tolerated here.”

The investigation related to the injured man is ongoing.
