West Vancouver – amidst the government roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccine, fraudsters have come up with a new way to attempt to get your money.
West Vancouver Police have received reports that a fraudster will call a potential victim by phone. They claim that the victim is next in line for the vaccine, and they will need some personal information to set up a “home visit” to administer the injection.
The victim is asked for personal information such as a home address and credit card details.
“Unfortunately, this pandemic has provided new opportunities for fraudsters to target vulnerable people,” says Cst. Kevin Goodmurphy. “At this stage, nobody will be calling you to set up a home vaccine appointment. If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately.”
If anyone becomes a victim of fraud, they are asked to call the WVPD non-emergency reporting line at 604-925-7300.
