Residential Break-ins
Some careful thinking by a resident facing a difficult situation helped our officers quickly & safely conclude a residential break-in with a suspect in custody. A resident arriving at their Sentinel Hill area home in during early evening hours noted suspect inside. The resident quickly moved to a safe location off the property & called police. Officers responded immediately and contained the area. The suspect was arrested in the home with assistance of Police K9 and held in custody for a court appearance. The investigation is ongoing.
We are grateful officers were called immediately upon a resident noting a suspicious circumstance and that the resident made their call from a safe place.
We encourage you to always be alert to any suspicious circumstances or persons in your neighbourhood and to call Police immediately if you notice anything of concern.
Another break-in reported this week highlights the need to have & set a residential alarm when you will be away for any time. A resident returning to their Folkestone area home after a series of daytime errands found their front door has been broken through, with high value jewelry & personal accessories targeted.

Halloween & Fireworks
We wish a safe & fun Halloween to all who celebrate it. While Halloween officially arrives next Tuesday, the weekend prior to a weekday Halloween often includes many of the same disturbance & mischief related behaviours associated with the event.
Our patrol teams will be out throughout the community. Contact police if you see any disturbance related behaviours or property damage in progress.
A reminder to all residents that, effective October 16, 2023, the District of West Vancouver banned all consumer use and sale of fireworks. The ban aligns West Vancouver with neighbouring municipalities that have banned consumer fireworks.
If you see activity of concern, please don’t hesitate to call West Vancouver Police. Call 604-925-7300 for non-emergency matters. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency, including events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property or to report a substantive crime in progress.
