Prevent One Crime That Can Lead To Another

A Theft from Auto report this week unfortunately became a Residential Break-in.  Suspects broke into a car parked street-side in the Dundarave.  A garage door opener in the vehicle was then used to access the home’s garage where a bicycle was stolen.

We urge you to avoid leaving items of value in your vehicles when they are unattended, whether locked or not.  That is also applicable to keys or fobs that can be used to break into another vehicle or property.

Theft

Prompt reports & patrol team responses ended with suspects in custody in two matters this week.

Officers were called to a report of wire-theft in progress in the Woodgreen area. Officers responded to the area, stopped, identified arrested the suspect as they attempted to leave the area.

In another matter, officers responded to a report of an intoxicated & aggressive taxi passenger. Officers patrolling the area subsequently located & identified the suspect as they left a nearby retail shop carrying clothing subsequently confirmed as stolen. Again, the suspect was arrested without incident.

Great BC Shake-Out – Earthquake Drill

We live in a part of the world at high risk for dangerous earthquakes.  It is time for an annual province wide earthquake drill that all are urged to take part in.  The Great British Columbia Shake Out will be held at 10:17am, October 17th, 2024.

This is an opportunity for everyone, at home, work or in the community to practice essential earthquake safety measures including “Drop, Cover & Hold On”.

Beyond joining in the drill, you are urged to critically review & update your own emergency preparedness plans and supplies and to take proactive measures to secure your home & workspaces to reduce your risk of damage or injuries.
