CRA Scams
Tax Season has come & gone, but the CRA scam is still hanging around. A resident responded to a text message that claimed to be the Canada Revenue Agency and demanded payment of overdue taxes. A transfer was initiated, but the intended victim realized a scam was in progress in time for the bank to place a hold on funds & prevent loss. Canada Revenue Agency assures if you have any taxes in arrears, payment will never be discussed via an uninvited text message.
Break & Enter
Break-ins reported this week included another in a seasonal cabin on Cypress. Suspects entered through a 2nd floor window. stealing camping, food & cooking supplies. Whether it’s your home or a recreational property, reviewing security before leaving your property unattended, especially for any extended period, is a must.
Thefts
Sadly, another resident facing the uncertainty & follow up required after a theft of mail. A Dundarave area resident discovered the theft in a review of home surveillance images after returning from a trip. If you’re going to be away, protect yourself by arranging for family, a neighbour or friend to clear all mail & delivery items while you’re not home.

WVPD in the Community
Over the past weekend, officers from West Vancouver Police & North Vancouver RCMP assisted with the 2023 Pulling Together Mini-Canoe Journey. Our WVPD canoe Ch’ich’iyuy and the Squamish Nation Canoe Sema7maka ventured out on a 3-day paddle in Howe Sound, in which officers & Indigenous Youth journey together toward better understanding and to learn about Coast Salish Canoe Culture.
