CRIME ALERTS & UPDATES

Coordinator’s Update – Jan 09

Good Day Block Watch Captains, Co-Captains & Participants,

Happy New Year from West Vancouver Block Watch! We wish you & yours all the very best for 2025.

Thank you for all that you do to support community safety & crime prevention throughout West Vancouver.

West Vancouver Police have responded to 952 calls for service since our December 12th update.

Block Watch Crime Alerts for December 13th to January 9th are attached.

Residential Break & Enter

It has been a very unfortunate holiday season for several community members, with suspects targeting both single family homes and suites in multi-unit buildings for break-ins.  Residents of four different suites in two different multi-unit buildings in the Dundarave & Community Centre areas reported break-ins. Active investigations are ongoing. If you live in a multi-unit building, be watchful for unfamiliar or suspicious persons attempting to enter. Avoid letting anyone you don’t know follow you in without showing or using a proper building access fob or key. Please don’t hesitate to report any suspicious persons or circumstances to West Vancouver Police.

Meantime, suspects broke into a single-family home in the Cross Creek/Highland Drive area through a ground floor window, while residents were out for the evening. No alarm was triggered.

In the Whytecliff Park area, residents returned home to discover pry marks on a rear door & kitchen window. Fortunately, no access was gained, and nothing was stolen.

Please take time ahead of leaving your home for any period to confirm your alarm system is working and properly set. Regularly confirm any surveillance cameras are working & clear of any obstructions.

**Please review our Crime Alerts – If you become aware of an offence in your neighbourhood area, we encourage you to review your own home surveillance system for any suspicious persons or activity on your own property. Please don’t hesitate to contact Police if you note anything of interest.
