Block Watch Alerts & The Holiday Season

On behalf of West Vancouver Block Watch, Chief Constable John Lo & our West Vancouver Police family, we wish you & yours the very best in this season of celebration, and a joyful, healthy, and prosperous 2024!  Have happy, safe & secure holidays!

Officers are ready to answer the call 24-7 through the holidays.

As always, if you are aware of an immediate danger to a person or property, a crime in progress or a substantive crime that just occurred, call 9-1-1 immediately and stay on the line.  Non-emergency reports to West Vancouver Police can be made by phone at 604-925-7300 or online at https://westvanpolice.ca/report-a-crime/

Our next updated Block Watch Crime Alerts & Coordinator’s Update will be issued Thursday, January 9th

Before You Go Away

Please take time ahead of any planned trips to ensure your property will be fully secured while you’re away. Confirm that your alarm system is working and properly set. Take time to ensure any surveillance cameras are clear of any obstructions.

We encourage you to have a family member, trusted local friend or neighbour check your property regularly and clear any delivery items. Avoid leaving any gifts, wrapped or otherwise, where they can be seen through an exterior window.  Avoid sharing any travel plans on social media in advance or during your trip.

If you rely on a web-based security camera or alarm system that delivers alerts to a smart phone or tablet, remember your system will not be able to deliver an alert if your device is away from internet either on airplane mode or elsewhere.  A friend or family member able to monitor your alarm locally can help alert police more quickly of any issues at your home

**Please review our Crime Alerts. If you become aware of an offence in your neighbourhood area, we encourage you to review your own home surveillance system for any suspicious persons or activity on your own property. Please don’t hesitate to contact Police if you note anything of interest.**

Make The Right Call

We are making available a new guide this week and invite our Block Watch participants to share this among your personal networks. We all know 9-1-1 is the number for emergencies where Police, Fire or Ambulance assistance is needed. Call 604-925-7300 for non-emergency West Vancouver Police service.

“Make The Right Call” is a comprehensive listing of numbers you can call for less urgent & non-emergency assistance for a broad range of public services. We encourage you to Click Make The Right Call and bookmark the page on your web browser so you can easily access it when needed.
