CRIME ALERTS & UPDATES

Coordinator’s Update – April 27

Good Day Block Watch Captains, Co-Captains & Participants,

West Vancouver Police have responded to 264 calls for service since our last update.

Residential Construction Site – B&E

Unfortunately, more construction sites were targeted for break-ins over the past week. Three sites were separately targeted, with locks on two site gates & on one door forced to gain entry. Plumbing & electrical supplies, tools & other items were targeted. If you’re considering a major renovation or re-build, make sure security is part of your project plan.

Mail Security

Two circumstances this week involving damage to mailboxes in multi-unit buildings. Victims in these reports were unable to be immediately certain whether any mail or packages were stolen. Whether you live in an apartment, condo, or single-family home, it is always important to promptly clear mail or packages from your mailbox on any day when delivery might be expected. If you’re planning to be away, plan to have family or friends clear mail or deliveries for you. Theft of mail, especially if it includes any banking or personal information can help offenders commit Fraud & Identity Theft offences.

Welcome to Block Watch!

Welcome to residents of ‘The Bellevue’ in Dundarave! With a formal organizational meeting to follow, residents in the new strata building will join as our newest Block Watch! Thanks to Doug & Barry for stepping forward as captain & co-captain of the new group. Building by building, block by block working together to build community safety.

Meet WVPD Officers & Your Block Watch Coordinator

Thank you to Clovelly Walk area Block Watch participants for including myself & Cst. Nicole Braithwaite in your group meeting this morning! Great questions all, and we appreciate the opportunity to receive feedback from you!

As Block Captains & Co-Captains, we encourage you to meet with your Block Groups, either virtually, or in person with participants at least once a year, to renew acquaintances, ensure contact information is up to date, and take the opportunity to welcome new arrivals in the neighbourhood to your Block Watch. We’re happy to join your gatherings with an update on Block Watch. We can visit in person, or touch base via MS Teams if that suits your needs better. Give me a call. Send me an email. Let’s see what we can schedule!

If you see suspicious activity or persons in your neighbourhood, please don’t hesitate to contact West Vancouver Police. Thank you for being alert. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Call 604-925-7300 for a non-emergency response.
