Charity Scams

Charity fraud schemes seek donations for organizations that do little or no work—instead, the money goes to the fake charity’s creator. While these scams can happen at any time, they are especially prevalent after high-profile disasters. Criminals often use tragedies to exploit you and others who want to help.

Grandparent Scams

Has your phone ever rung and the person on the other end says they are your grandchild and that something terrible has happened, a car accident for example, and they need money? Receiving a call like this could mean you’re a target of what’s known as the “Grandparent Scam,” a version of the Emergency Scam.

Ensuring a Safe Summer

It is rare these days for large items to be stolen. Televisions, electronics,
and appliances are typically not what property crime offenders are looking for.

Identity Theft

Identity theft occurs when someone wrongfully obtains and uses your personal information to commit fraud or theft or for other unlawful purposes.

Home Security

If you have become a victim of a crime or observe what you believe to be suspicious activity in you neighbourhood, report all suspicious persons or vehicles to the police as soon as possible. If something doesn’t seem right, trust your gut and make a report!

Senior Safety

It is very unfortunate that many of our seniors fall victim to crime, whether that be random assaults, theft, fraud and online scams and elder abuse.
