Residential Break-ins
A Residential Break & Enter in the area between Ambleside Park & the highway over the long weekend provides an unfortunate reminder of some prevention basics. A resident returned from early evening errands to find a rear glass door smashed & the home ransacked. The home is equipped with an alarm system including several surveillance cameras. Unfortunately, the resident did not activate the systems on departure. If you have security alarms or cameras, we encourage you to ensure they are set when you’re away, even if you intend to be gone a short time. We encourage you to always be alert to any suspicious persons or circumstances in your neighbourhood, and especially as we are into the time of year when darkness falls very early in the evening.
Mail Thefts
Some additional motivation to review our advice last week about package theft prevention as the holiday gift giving season looms. Crime Alerts this week include mail theft reports, along with damage to other mailboxes consistent with mail theft attempts. Clear your mail as often as possible to reduce your riskandClick here to review Package & Mail Theft Prevention Tips from our recent Coordinator’s Update.
Stolen Auto Recovery
Quick response by officers this past week helped bring a stolen vehicle back to its rightful owner. A stolen auto report was relayed to our officers from Vancouver Police. Plainclothes officers located the vehicle entering West Vancouver and working in close coordination with our Patrol & Traffic section officers, the vehicle was stopped on Taylor Way and the suspect safely arrested.
