Residential Break-ins

A frightening moment for a Dundarave area resident, returning home to discover a male suspect inside.  The suspect fled upon realizing the resident had arrived. Cash was stolen. An active investigation is ongoing.

Meantime, the value of alert neighbours & quick calls to police were demonstrated in two other reports.

A resident of a multi-unit building in the Community Centre area called police immediately after noting two suspicious males in a building stairwell. Suspects fled. A break-in was confirmed. Responding officers found & arrested one of the two suspects.

And in Ambleside, a resident called police after seeing a suspect leaving a neighbour’s garage with stolen property.  Responding officers located & arrested the suspect without incident on board a transit bus to Vancouver.

Regularly review personal & property security measures to assess whether your property is adequately protected.

Please don’t hesitate to call West Vancouver Police if you notice any suspicious persons or vehicles in your neighbourhood.

Great BC ShakeOut 2025 – Be Prepared For Emergencies

Earthquakes are common in BC. Around 4,000 are recorded in the province each year. While most of these earthquakes are too small to be felt, earthquakes strong enough to cause damage do happen and we urge you to take the time now to prepare.

On October 16, 2025, at 10:16am, join thousands across the province for the annual Great BC ShakeOut earthquake drill. This is an important opportunity to practice at home, work, or school, for the moments after an earthquake is felt in your area.

  • DROP-COVER-HOLD ON so that you are prepared to respond quickly and safely when you feel shaking or receive an Earthquake Early Warning alert.
  • Use the month of October to make and/or update your emergency plan and kit.
  • Visit Alertable.ca and Install the Alertable App on your phone to receive emergency alerts directly to your phone.

The time to get started is now!  Visit nsem.ca for information on personal preparedness. And please note the following events in our community, to support your preparations.

Anytime you see activity of concern, please don’t hesitate to call West Vancouver Police. Call 604-925-7300 for non-emergency matters. Call 9-1-1 in an emergency, including events that involve an immediate threat to a person or property or to report a substantive crime in progress.
