Break-in Attempt Interrupted

Quickly calling police from a safe place helped land a suspect in custody after an attempted break-in at a home in the Ridgeview area.  A resident found a suspect attempting to break into their home.  The resident moved quickly to safety and called 9-1-1.  Patrol members responded immediately, found and arrested the suspect without incident.

Thefts

More great examples this week of how we can work together to apprehend offenders.  A theft in progress was reported at a home improvement retailer in the Marine Drive / Taylor Way Area.  Patrol officers responded quickly, finding and arresting the suspect without incident.  All stolen property was recovered.  The suspect was then found to also be subject of an arrest warrant relating to a Coquitlam investigation and in breach of release conditions regarding an investigation in Richmond.

In a separate matter, officers ended up arresting the same suspects for two alleged offences in the Taylor Way/Marine Drive area. Officers were dealing with two suspects arrested for theft at one retailer when alerted to a report of another theft at a nearby store.  A detailed suspect description from staff reporting the second theft was relayed and it became clear to officers, the suspects already in custody matched descriptions in the second report.  Two suspects will now face recommended charges in both matters.

Road Safety Initiatives In May

As the weather begins to warm from Spring toward Summer, our roads & public spaces become much busier with pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycles, and vehicles.  We are heading into Canada Road Safety Week, weeklong call from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, for all in our communities to think about safety on our roads.  This year’s theme, “Every Road. Every Day. Everyone.” aims to remind Canadians always adopt safe driving practices to protect themselves, their passengers, and other road users.  Avoid high risk driving behaviours, including driving while impaired by alcohol, drugs or fatigure, distracted driving, aggressive driving and driving without a seatbelt.
