Suspects had broken a kitchen door window to gain entry. No alarm was triggered.
Fraud – Counterfeit Currency Alert – North Shore

West Vancouver Police Block Watch urges you to take note of information from our North Shore Policing partners. RCMP are warning of an increase in counterfeit bills circulated in North Vancouver since the beginning of the year. 11 separate reports have been made of high-quality counterfeit $50 and $100 bank notes being used at various North Vancouver businesses.
Seized notes have all had identical serial numbers, are made from plastic similar to genuine currency, and include holographic stickers meant to imitate genuine embedded security measures. West Vancouver Police have received no similar reports during the same period, however we urge residents & businesses to be wary when accepting cash in any transaction. If you unknowingly accept counterfeit cash as legal tender, you can’t be reimbursed; you’re on the hook for the loss.
Protect yourself by ensuring you & your personal network are familiar with all security features of genuine bank notes. Resources on how to verify a bank note’s security features can be found on the Bank of Canada’s website: Bank of Canada – Counterfeit Prevention
