Summer Vacation & Home Security
The end of another school year is arriving and with it the season for travel & vacation. Please take time ahead of any planned trips to ensure your property will be fully secured while you’re away.
Arrange for a family member or friend to check regularly on your home & property and clear any delivery items.
Alarm & surveillance systems can significantly improve property security, quickly alerting you & police to any intrusion attempt, and provide real assistance to investigators working to identify and arrest offenders. However, full benefit of that protection is only realized if your security system is well maintained, working properly, and set before leaving your home for any period.
Take time to make yourself familiar with all features of your system and be able to operate and properly set it and able to operate any video playback features when needed. Images of suspects can be invaluable to investigators, more so if they are received in a timely way.
Regularly check if cameras are operating properly and placed to capture the best quality images. Ensure your cameras are not obstructed in any way by things like growth in your trees or landscaping or even spiderwebs.
If you rely on a web-based security camera or alarm system that delivers alerts to a smart phone or tablet, we urge you to remember your system will not be able to deliver an alert if your device is away from internet either on airplane mode or elsewhere.
