Summer Heat & Home Security

The forecast indicates we are headed for daytime temperatures in the mid to high 20’s over the next week to ten days with the potential for even higher temperatures as mid-summer approaches.  Higher summer temperatures can create seasonal crime risks, and it is vital to be alert in advance.

Homes can become more tempting to criminals with windows and doors left open more frequently, and homeowners often spending less time at home. If you are staying home or plan to be away, take time to secure any door or window that will be unattended, either while you are busy socializing or sleeping.

Criminals look for easy opportunities, and inattention to security details during the summer months can help present suspects with an opening to commit an offence.  If you are leaving your home for errands, take time to secure any accessible entries. If you need ventilation of an open window or sliding door, ensure you have adequate secondary locks installed that allow the entry or window to be open, but not wide enough for a suspect to enter through.

WVPD in the Community – North Shore Strong 2 – A Cops for Cancer Gala

Thank you to all who supported our 2nd annual North Shore Strong – A Cops for Cancer Gala last month at Gleneagles!  We are happy to report after all proceeds from very generous auction donors & bidders were added up, we proudly forwarded a donation of $26,330 to the Canadian Cancer Society for Pediatric Cancer Research & support programs like Camp Goodtimes! We are already looking forward to North Shore Strong 3 on June 13th, 2026! Meantime, Constables Jack Yee & Jerid McCuaig are continuing to fundraise and train now for the Tour de Coast September 12th to 19th. The tour will visit several stops in West Vancouver September 12th.  We’ll share more itinerary details as the ride approaches.
