Check Your Residential Alarms
Officers are investigating a break-in report in the lower Stevens Drive area. Suspects gained entry by smashing glass in rear door to access the door handle. The home alarm was set but no alarm triggered. Multiple rooms rummaged with coin & stamp collections, silverware and other items stolen. While this remains under active investigation, we encourage all residents to please regularly check & confirm your home alarm is properly set and functional.
Construction Site Security
Are you planning substantial renovation or construction of your home? Do you have a security plan for your property if your project involves you temporarily relocating? That consideration was highlighted by a report in our Crime Alerts this week. Suspects broke into a home under construction in the Millstream Area through an unsecured front door. Tools & equipment were stolen.
The Value Of A Suspicious Person Call & Alert Neighbours
A suspect sought on multiple warrants ended up in custody recently, thanks to alert residents helping our patrol officers. Callers contacted police concerned for the wellbeing of a male standing on the highway near Capilano Road. Officers located and safely removed the male from the highway, who then asked to be taken to a home in the Caulfeild area.
While enroute, officers began to suspect the male was providing a false name. Upon arrival at the property, a neighbour noting police confirmed for officers that residents were away and helped officers contact homeowners to confirm no one had permission to enter the property. The suspect, who had briefly entered the property was quickly detained & identified. The suspect had outstanding warrants and was in breach of a Court Release Order. He was arrested without incident and held in custody for court.
