Inspector Scott Findlay
Inspector Scott Findlay is currently the Officer in Charge of the Investigations & Intelligence Division that deals with all major crime in West Vancouver. Prior to this, Inspector Findlay was the OIC of the Operations Division from 2015-2017, and was responsible for managing all Patrol and Support resources.
Scott grew up in West Vancouver and attended both Sentinel Secondary and West Vancouver Secondary. Scott knows the community well and is proud of the personal relationships he has with many West Vancouver residents.
Scott attended college in Washington State on a football scholarship before transferring to the University of British Columbia to play varsity football for the Thunderbirds. Scott routinely asserts the benefits of being a student athlete and is aware of how well it prepared him for a policing career. After graduating from UBC he was hired by the West Vancouver Police Board in 1993 and subsequently graduated from the Justice Institute of British Columbia the following year. He has fond memories of Class 57 and his classmates!
Throughout his career Scott has served in many sections, teams, and units. He has successfully executed leadership positions in the Patrol Section, Major Crimes, Surveillance Team, Community Services Team, Training & Recruiting, Administration & Human Resources, and the Operations Support Section. Scott has also served as media liaison officer, critical incident police negotiator, and was appointed to the Deputy Venue Commander at Cypress Mountain during the 2010 Olympics. Through good times and challenging times, Scott has always recognized how vibrant and beautiful West Vancouver is, and how important effective, honourable policing is to maintain such a wonderful community for its families and friends.
Scott is a Level 1 Police Incident Commander, a recipient of a Chief Commendation for exemplary conduct affecting youth and families, and holds the designation of Commissioned Officer. In addition to holding a BA from UBC, Scott has completed a certificate in Advanced Leadership from the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business. Scott is married with three wonderful kids. He is committed to making West Vancouver safe today and safer tomorrow.
