West Vancouver, B.C.: Violation tickets and impounded vehicles for three drivers charged with Excessive Speeding

On July 17th, 2024, at approximately 4:21 a.m., a West Vancouver Police Officer was conducting proactive speed enforcement of eastbound traffic on the TransCanada Highway near Westmount Rd. He observed three vehicles travelling in a tight pack and visually estimated their speed to be in excess of 160 km/h. Radar confirmed their speed to be 178 km/h, and with the help of a second officer, the group was safely pulled over. Three drivers were issued violation tickets for excessive speeding and had their vehicles impounded for 7 days.

“This type of behaviour is incredibly dangerous and puts members of the public at risk”, says Sgt. Chris Bigland. “Given the recent spate of tragic accidents, both here in West Vancouver and throughout the province, we are imploring drivers to obey the speed limit and drive responsibly”.
